Here at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home and Cremation Centre we are all about giving our clients options. We let individuals and families decide how they would like to be buried, and what type of funeral or memorial service they would like. We have worked with people from all cultures and backgrounds – taking into account individual beliefs, traditions, and tastes.
If you’re thinking about your own preferences, and are undecided, here is some information about cremation that you might not already know.
- Cost effective – Cremation is generally more affordable than traditional burial. You do not require a coffin or vault. Urns are much smaller, thus more affordable. Ashes do not have to be buried, so you do not have to purchase a grave marker, or have to pay a cemetery for a plot.
- Portability – If you opt to not bury your loved ones cremated remains, you can keep the urn with you. While this isn’t for everyone, but it does provide those who choose to keep the cremains with some comfort, knowing they’ll always be near by.
- Spread the Ashes – Some people who wish to be cremated do so because they want their remains sprinkled at a special spot. Whether it’s a familiar wooded area, garden, or body of water, these places hold more significance to some than a cemetery. Note: Some places require permits to spread ashes.
- Save the land – Even if you bury an urn, it takes up a lot less land than a coffin. If you’re looking to reduce you impact on the world, cremation has that benefit.
